What an exciting trip for you, and I am glad to hear that you are not going to let your period stop you from having fun and want to be prepared. 

I would suggest packing two packs of day pads and one pack of night pads in your suitcase that goes in the hold. And then have around 3-4 pads in your backpack for when on the plane and in the airport.
