What are our organic products made of?
Lil-Lets organic tampons are made from 100% organic cotton certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) by the UK Soil Association.
These standards ensure that our organic tampons are GM free and are grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers (or potentially toxic pesticides).
You might wonder why organic tampons are often a little more expensive than standard tampons, and it's because of these special conditions required for growing organic cotton.
At Lil-Lets we're open and honest about what our products contain, so here's what's in our full organic range:

Like all tampon brands, materials can vary depending on the range. Here’s a simple breakdown of how Lil‑Lets tampons are made, so you know exactly what you’re choosing.
Our core range tampons are made with:
Our organic range tampons are made with:
100% certified organic cotton for both the absorbent tampon body and the withdrawal string
We offer both options because we know everyone’s preferences are different. Whether you choose our core range or organic range, all Lil‑Lets tampons are designed with comfort, performance, and confidence in mind, so you can decide what feels right for your body.
The exact materials used in a Lil‑Lets tampon depend on the range you choose, but we’re always transparent about what goes into our products.
All Lil‑Lets products are clearly broken down by range, with the materials used in their production listed so you can see exactly what each tampon is made from. This full transparency helps you make an informed choice based on what feels right for your body and your preferences.
At Lil‑Lets, how our tampons are made is just as important as what they’re made from. We use modern, high‑speed manufacturing machinery designed for precision, consistency, and strict hygiene control. This advanced technology ensures that every Lil‑Lets tampon is produced to the same high safety and quality standards, with comfort and performance built in from start to finish.
The process begins with preparing the absorbent fibres, which are formed into a thin web, tailored to different absorbency levels. This material is then cut, rolled, and compressed into a compact cylindrical shape, allowing the tampon to remain small before use and expand effectively when needed. A secure withdrawal string is attached, and in some ranges a soft outer cover is added to aid smooth insertion. Each tampon is then individually wrapped for optimum hygiene before being packed and quality‑checked.
Lil‑Lets non‑applicator tampons contain no pointless plastic. This means we don’t include plastic where it doesn’t serve a functional purpose. That’s why we encourage people to consider non‑applicator tampons they offer the same absorbency and performance as applicator tampons, but with up to 96% less plastic compared to disposable plastic applicators.
We’ve also expanded our range with organic, plastic‑free tampon options, so you can choose what feels right for your body and your values.
Lil‑Lets period pads are latex‑free. Like many pads available today, they’re made using a mix of materials similar to those found in everyday clothing and underwear. All materials are carefully selected to be safe, hygienic, and comfortable to wear.
Period pads are made using a blend of materials designed to provide comfort, protection, and hygiene. Some of these materials are classed as synthetic, which means they can be described as plastic‑based and are commonly used to help pads perform effectively.
We know that plastic content matters to many people, which is why we’re always looking for ways to actively reduce the amount of plastic used in our products. For our pads, we’re committed to being open and honest, we clearly show how much plastic is contained in each pad on our website, so you can make informed choices based on what feels right for you.
If avoiding plastic altogether is your priority, we also offer an organic range of period pads that is 100% plastic‑free, giving you another option to suit your body, lifestyle, and values.
Like all tampon brands, the materials used can vary depending on the range. We believe in being open about what goes into our products, so you can feel confident about what you’re choosing.
Our core range non‑applicator tampons are made with a viscose absorbent core that effectively manages menstrual flow. They feature a very thin non‑woven cover to support smoother, more comfortable insertion, along with a withdrawal string made from a cotton‑polyester blend for strength and reliability. Each tampon is wrapped in compostable cellophane for a more considered packaging option.
Our organic non‑applicator tampons are made using 100% certified organic cotton for both the absorbent tampon body and the withdrawal string.
We offer both options because we know everyone’s preferences are different. Whichever range you choose, all Lil‑Lets non‑applicator tampons are designed with comfort, performance, and confidence in mind, so you can decide what feels right for your body.
Lil‑Lets tampons are wrapped in NatureFlex™, a wood‑pulp–based material that’s sourced from responsibly managed forests. It’s designed to protect the tampon while also being more mindful of the environment.
NatureFlex™ is fully biodegradable and meets recognised compostability standards, which means it can be placed in your home compost heap or garden waste bin (where accepted). It’s just one of the ways we work to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging, without compromising on hygiene or performance.
