No, wearing a bra will not affect how your breasts grow. Breast development happens naturally as part of puberty, whether you wear a bra or not. If you do wear an underwired bra, make sure the wires sit comfortably against your chest and don't dig into your breast tissue.

3. My bra shows through my school shirt. How do I stop this?

This is a really common problem! A smooth T-shirt bra can help reduce visible lines, but it may still be slightly noticeable under thinner school shirts. You could also try wearing a vest top over your bra and under your shirt. If you're getting new school shirts before the next term, choosing slightly thicker fabrics can help too.

One interesting thing is that sometimes the discomfort isn't just coming from the breast tissue itself. As your breasts grow, the skin and tissues around them stretch and change, which can make your chest feel tender, achy, itchy or sensitive to touch.

You may find it helps to wear a comfortable, well-fitting crop top, bralette or soft bra, especially during sports or other activities. Having a little extra support can reduce movement and make your breasts feel less sore.

Some girls also find that gently applying a moisturiser to the surrounding skin helps if it feels tight or stretched. However, avoid pressing or massaging painful areas too firmly, as this can sometimes make the tenderness worse.

Hi there 💜 Honestly, at 13 it's pretty normal to feel annoyed with your parents about all sorts of things, especially when your body is changing and your emotions can feel a bit stronger than usual. One minute you can feel happy and relaxed, and the next you might feel frustrated, upset or angry, sometimes without really knowing why.

That said, try not to assume your mum has deliberately decided not to get you a bra. From what you've told me in your previous message, it actually sounds as though she's already noticed you're growing up and has even dropped a few hints about taking you shopping for your first proper bra. She may simply have been waiting until you felt ready to bring it up.

Sometimes parents worry about pushing their children too quickly into the next stage of growing up. While puberty can be confusing for teenagers, it can be emotional for parents too. Your mum is watching her little girl become a young woman, and she may be trying to follow your lead rather than rushing you.

And remember, not everyone develops at the same pace, (I was definitely the last in my friendship group to notice breast development or have a bra). But remember that even though your mum got hers at 14, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get yours at the same age. Everybody develops at their own pace, and your body will get there when it's ready.

As for bras, from what you've described, it sounds like you could be ready for a proper bra if you'd feel more comfortable wearing one. And don't worry about your breasts being a bit cone-shaped or pointy. That's actually a very common part of breast development, and many girls notice this while their breasts are growing. Breasts come in all shapes and sizes, and they often change shape as you get older.

If those flimsy bras with clasps aren't comfortable, you could try a soft bra, a non-wired bra, or a sports bra. These can provide a bit more support and often feel more comfortable when you're still developing. Many shops in England, such as M&S, Next, John Lewis,Primark and Matalan, sell first bras and teen bras designed specifically for younger girls.

When it comes to asking your mum, it actually sounds like she's already given you a few hints that she's expecting the conversation! Sometimes the hardest part is saying the first few words. To answer your question, yes, it is completely normal to notice a few hairs around your nipples. This is something many girls and women experience, especially during puberty when hormone levels are changing and your body is developing.

Some people only have a couple of hairs, while others may have more. Everybody is different, and it is usually nothing to worry about.

If the hairs bother you, it is best not to shave them, as this can sometimes cause stubbly regrowth or irritated skin. If you really dislike them, carefully plucking them out is usually a better option, although it can be a little uncomfortable and should be done gently with clean tweezers.
