School Resources: Menstruation Education in Schools

From September 2020 relationships and sex education became mandatory in secondary schools in England, while primary schools are now required to teach relationships education. We've created the below resources to help you tackle the subject.

Here at Lil-Lets, we’ve worked on different resources to ensure you’re prepped to teach these subjects and maybe even learn a thing or two! Read on to find out what we've got in store for the future of menstruation education in schools.

Free e-Learning Modules

In line with the new government guidelines, all young people should learn about menstruation and menstrual wellbeing as part of the curriculum. To help schools, and those working in classrooms, to deliver great relationships education and RSE lessons, we’ve teamed up with Brook to create a free e-learning course covering:

  • Body changes
  • Reproduction & periods
  • Emotional and mental health
  • Developing sexual feelings

Brook is a leading young people’s sexual health and wellbeing charity, providing support to those that need it most. Through Brook’s work, young people affected by period poverty are provided with education around menstruation and managing their periods. Together, Brook and Lil-Lets are committed to challenging stigma and empowering young people to know their own bodies.

We know that educating all genders about their bodies with high quality, reliable, and accurate information helps them to navigate puberty with confidence and reduces harmful taboos. In addition to this, by educating young people and education professionals, we hope to put a stop to the stigma that is often a contributing factor to period poverty.

The free e-learning course can be accessed through Brook’s e-learning page. Register now to start your e-learning journey and make the most of these free school resources. They’ve also got plenty of other modules covering everything from how to deliver RSE to relationships, STIs, and more, so you’ve got all bases covered!
